What we did at Cisco Live 2017, Berlin

    Rise Against Hunger

Rise Against Hunger is an international hunger relief non-profit organization that coordinates the packaging and distribution of food and other life-saving aid to people in developing nations. Founded in 1998, it has mobilized over 500,000 volunteers to send more than 224,000,000 meals to 71 countries.

With the help of all of our delegates, we were able to pack 67,000 meals during Cisco Live 2017, Berlin – surpassing our goal of 50,000 meals. The meals packed have been sent to schools in Zimbabwe to encourage students to come to school and stay in school. By doing this they can become better educated to help themselves and their communities.

    Berliner Tafel

Berliner Tafel In line with our corporate responsibility, we ensured we minimized the food waste generated from Cisco Live. We therefore supported Berliner Tafel who are a food bank providing a collection service of food donations from companies which they distribute to various Berlin based food banks. We were delighted to be working in partnership with Berliner Tafel to ensure the wider Berlin community could benefit from the 1.8 tons of excess food from Cisco Live.

    One Water

One Water’s objective is to work towards a world where everyone has access to safe, clean drinking water. The One Foundation was set up with an express purpose. To use the profit generated through the sale of One Water and other One branded products, plus donations from corporate partners to provide access to safe, clean drinking water and sanitation. And to empower communities to lift themselves out of poverty through sustainable livelihood programs.

By using this brand of water at the event we are supporting the provision of clean water to communities in Malawi. The number of water bottles purchased for this event would equate to 4 pump repairs impacting over 1,000 lives.

Berlin Refugee Support Charity – Moabit Hilft

    CL17_Activities_Social Impact_Moabit Hilft logo

The Charity, Moabit Hilft, was set up in Berlin in 2013 in response to the refugee crisis Berlin was experiencing. Moabit is an inner-city area of Berlin which already has a refugee shelter but they are struggling with the overwhelming demand. Moabit Hilft started actively fundraising in 2013, collecting donations for clothes, furniture, cosmetics, hygiene products, games and school supplies for the Shelter.

We have sent the left-over merchandise from the event to Moabit Hilft.
