Rajiv Asati, a Distinguished Engineer with 11+ yrs of Cisco life, is responsible for driving “NGN” architecture for network operators around the world.
He has worked with 100s of large Service Providers (around the world) designing, deploying large scale MPLS based triple-play networks with focus on uni/multicast routing, MPLS, TE, VPN, Video, DOCSIS based services. He has also worked with many large Enterprise customers, Govt., universities etc. He also works very closely with the product management teams and development engineering to drive the forward-looking features.
He is active at the IETF and CableLabs, with ~35 patents (issued & pending) in the area of VPN, MPLS, DOCSIS, Routing Protocols, Security and Video. He frequently presents at industry conferences such as Networkers, MPLS Congress, APRICOT, CableLabs etc.
Currently, he leads a team in Service Providers Systems Unit (SPSU) responsible for IP NGN Triple Play solution/system, focused on prescribing reference architecture for Cable SPs. He has provided his subject matter expertise in IP routing, Multicasting, MPLS, QoS, Security etc. to almost every big Cable Operator in North America and EMEA.
Prior to joining Cisco, Rajiv worked for AT&T Labs, and Nortel.
