Martin Nystrom is an investigations manager for the Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) at Cisco Systems. After building and managing the global security monitoring team, he’s now fitting CSIRT to enable Cisco’s rapidly growing services and acquisitions. As an active security investigator, Martin provides regular guidance for incident response and security initiatives. During his career, Martin has architected security solutions for large IT projects, and has built innovative web applications in Java for the pharmaceutical and computer industries. He received his bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University, master’s degree from NC State University, and his CISSP certification in 2004.
Martin is the author of O’Reilly’s “SQL Injection Defenses”, and co-author of O’Reilly’s, “Security Monitoring: Proven Methods for Incident Response on Enterprise Networks”. He is a frequent conference speaker, and was honored on the Java One Rock Star Wall of Fame. He enjoys speaking at FIRST and Cisco Live conferences, and providing security guidance to customers via Cisco’s Executive Briefing Program.
