Intelligent Programmable Networks: Meet onePK
If you have been wondering how you could enrich applications by tying them closer to key network capabilities, you should consider visiting the ONE Programmable Networks demo booth in CiscoLive. Let us show you network programmability in action: through programmatic access to network-wide and device level APIs, you can create applications that streamline operations, optimize network performance based on direct and simple application requests, secure business resources and much more.
At the very core of these new network device level capabilities is Cisco’s ONE Platform Kit: onePK is the foundation for programmatic access to all Cisco network elements. Learn how you can use the onePK software development kit toolkit – as an application developer, you download onePK and import the libraries into your familiar development environment (IDE) of choice, such as Eclipse or Netbeans, and you program with a language you know – Java, C, or Python. With the onePK SDK you create applications that access the rich feature set of all of Cisco’s network software systems. onePK also represents an abstraction layer that resides within all of Cisco’s network software systems (IOS, IOS-XR, NX-OS) – this runtime environment communicates with the application you created with the SDK. The same application can run on all Cisco routers and switches directly, embedded server blades in our products, or on a physical or virtualized server – which is to say, the application can run anywhere. And because the onePK runtime represents an abstraction layer that harmoniously runs on all of our network operating systems, the exact same application can run on and communicate with any IOS, IOS-XR and NX-OS device with absolutely no changes.
As you visit the ONE Programmable Networks booth in Orlando, you will also meet innovative Cisco development partners that leveraged the programmability of Cisco’s ONE framework to effectively align network capabilities with emerging business needs in new, powerful ways.
