Telco Together Volunteer Packing Station @ the Community Hub
In March 2017, our charity partner Telco Together Foundation worked with us to provide a volunteer station located in the main foyer of Cisco Live Melbourne, called the ‘Community Hub’.
We welcomed all Cisco Live delegates to visit the Community Hub during downtimes to spend a few minutes helping pack hygiene packs for Indigenous children in remote areas of Australia.
Our goal was to pack 1,000 hygiene kits over three days and these kits will be distributed by Red Dust Role Models to school children living in eight remote Indigenous communities around Australia, as part of Red Dust’s important work providing healthy living programs for Indigenous Australians.
The Need – Did You Know?
- The rate of Diabetes is 6 times higher in Indigenous children than non-indigenous
- 66% of deaths occur before the age of 65 for Indigenous people, compared to just 20% for non-Indigenous
- Indigenous people are 5 times more likely to die of kidney disease than non-indigenous people
Take time to celebrate and enjoy the here and now! Cisco Live offers ample opportunities to have some fun, recharge your batteries, and get to know your fellow attendees outside of the classroom!
