The Internet has experienced the exhaustion of IPv4 and a proliferation of new devices. Host OS?s are shipping with IPv6 enabled. All of which requires that we earnestly begin the transition to IPv6. This session will examine the details of the IPv6 protocol. The session is a technical deep dive (from intro to intermediate) into the operation and foundational underpinnings of IPv6. We will further discuss the Neighbor Discovery Protocol (NDP), the role of the router in IPv6, and the extensive use of Multicast and ICMPv6.
