MIYUKI SUZUKI, PRESIDENT, ASIA PACIFIC, JAPAN AND CHINA

Miyuki Suzuki is President for Cisco Asia Pacific, Japan and China (APJC). This group comprises of six organisations operating across a diverse set of markets and countries: Australia and New Zealand, India and SAARC, Japan, ASEAN, Korea, and Greater China. In this role, she is responsible for developing Cisco’s strategy, accelerating business growth, and ensuring Cisco APJC is the most trusted and relevant IT solutions partner and provider in the industry.

Suzuki joined Cisco in 2015, as President and General Manager for Cisco Japan, and managed all operations for the Japanese market. During her tenure, she successfully accelerated the business to sustained growth, demonstrating her proven record for driving high-performing teams that achieve results. She has a passion for talent development, and driving diversity in both teams and thought. She is an innovative, entrepreneurially minded leader, who leads with a long-term view on vision and strategy.

Irving Tan is Senior Vice President of Operations at Cisco, and was promoted to the role in January 2018.

He is responsible for Cisco’s Operating strategy and implementation, to deliver growth through productivity improvements and innovation across all functions of the business, including sales, engineering, services, supply chain, and customer, partner and employee services. One of Tan’s top priorities is leading Cisco’s transformation into an end-to-end digital company, to accelerate the value the business brings to customers, partners, and employees.

Tan has been with Cisco for over 11 years, and is known as an exceptional leader with deep expertise in sales and global operations, and changing market and customer dynamics. His focus on people is evidenced by his track record leading high performing teams that achieve sustained results.

Prior to his current role, Tan was the leader of Cisco Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ), where he grew the sales business consistently over his four years in post, and moved APJ’s position forward as one of the most trusted IT partners and providers in the Asia region. Previous roles include leader of Cisco ASEAN; leader of Cisco Singapore and Brunei; and senior management in Enterprise Sales; Strategy, Planning and Operations; and Managed Services.

Tan has been an advisor to governments, industry partners, and members on various boards, to help organisations understand how to use technology to innovate and transform.

Before joining Cisco, Tan was a principal at A.T. Kearney, a management consultancy specialising in mergers and acquisition and merger integration in IT and Communications; and also worked at HewlettPackard as business unit leader for its Communications and Media Solutions Group in Asia Pacific and Japan.

Tan holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.

Scott Harrell is Senior Vice President and General Manager of Cisco’s Enterprise Networking Business. He leads all aspects of the enterprise networking business, including product development, user experience, and business development for Cisco’s enterprise networking products and solutions. This portfolio consists of the industry’s leading range of routers, switches, wireless, and software that span the campus, access, IoT, cloud, and wide area networks.

Since joining Cisco in 2001, Harrell has held leadership roles in product management and engineering in the Enterprise Networking and Security businesses where he has helped define and build technology portfolios to meet the rapidly evolving demands of digital businesses.

Most recently, Harrell led product management for Cisco’s security business where he helped transform Cisco’s world-class security portfolio and transition the business to a software led business model. In this role, he was also responsible for the product strategy and the integration of several successful acquisitions.

Prior to Cisco, Harrell worked in a strategic planning role at Intel Corporation. He holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Bachelors of Science from Georgia Institute of Technology.

CLOSING GUEST KEYNOTE

MICHAEL CROSSLAND

I went to the doctors with my mum and my sister, she had an ear infection, …… 5 years later I came home’ Michael Crossland is an extraordinary young man who has defied the odds of a life threatening cancer to build a life of exceptional achievements. An accomplished businessman and an elite sportsman, his life is a remarkable success. Michael is at the forefront of today’s new generation of inspirational speakers and after releasing his first ‘tell all’ autobiography in January, he is now a number 1 bestselling author across 6 different countries.

 

Despite spending nearly a quarter of his life in hospital, he has forged a highly successful career in the corporate world, represented Australia in his chosen sport and featured regularly across all forms of media. He also runs a school and orphanage in Haiti and has been presented with the Australia Day Ambassador role for 7 consecutive years. The award-winning documentary on his life, by ABC’s Australian Story, has been viewed by over 4 million people. Diagnosed with an aggressive life threatening cancer before his first birthday, doctors told him school and sport were not options – infection and fatigue were too great a risk.

 

As a boy Michael’s only wish was to lead a normal life and be able to do all the things that other ‘normal’ kids took for granted every day. Michael captures audiences no matter what size and inspires each individual to achieve ongoing positive change in their life. He has an absolute passion and belief in people’s ability to change direction, achieve success and become who they truly want to be.

HOW RIDICULOUS

Brett Stanford is a social media influencer, youtuber and avid sportsman, he is a co-founder of the popular Australian youtube channel How Ridiculous with 4.2million subscribers and is the holder of two world records including world’s longest golf putt at over 120 metres.

Current Work

How Ridiculous has amassed over 600 million views since its inception and has collaborated with sporting stars such as Tiger Woods and Ernie Els. Friends since childhood, Brett and his friends, Derek and Scott travel the world accomplishing near-impossible, and sometimes ridiculous, sporting feats. The most notable of these includes a 200m world record basketball shot in Southern Africa and dropping a bowling ball on to a trampoline from a 165m Swiss Dam.

Previous Experience

Charity: Brett is, along with the rest of the How Ridiculous founders, an ambassador for Compassion, an international charity aimed at helping children escape poverty through donations of time and sponsorship.

MANAL AL-SHARIF

Manal al-Sharif has been listed as one of TIME Magazine’s 100 most influential people, as one of Forbes Top 50 Women in Tech and by Newsweek as one of the 10 tech-revolutionaries in the world. She is a prominent voice advocating for women’s rights and empowerment and was one of the first Saudi women to specialize in Information Security. Starting her career in 2002 with Saudi Aramco, the largest oil company in the world.

In 2011, al-Sharif co-founded and led the #Women2Drive movement, to challenge the ban on women driving in her home country of Saudi Arabia. She was arrested and imprisoned for “driving while female” and was released on the condition that she never drove again on Saudi lands and never to spoke about the experience or conduct any interviews. Ignoring these conditions Manal continued campaigning for #Women2Drive and #IAmMyOwnGuardian with the aim to end male guardianship in her country and in June of 2018 the Saudi government lifted the ban on women driving. Manal also started #Faraj, a campaign to help domestic helpers leave jail, and #IAmLama which resulted in codifying the first anti-domestic violence law in Saudi. As a result of her tireless activism, she was awarded the first Vaclav Havel Prize for Creative Dissent.

Manal is a TED & Harvard speaker, she has also spoken for the United Nations, UNESCO, the Obama Summit, Google, Yahoo!, Oslo Freedom Forum, WIRED, Trust Women, The Arab Institute in Paris, the Center for International and Strategic Studies in Washington DC, Roosevelt House in NY, the Clinton Global Initiative, Women in the World, Dallas World Affairs Council, and many others.

Her speech at the Oslo Freedom Forum was chosen to be published in the book Speeches of Note by Shaun Usher among 75 notable speeches throughout history.

A blogger and regular contributor to international media, Manal has written for The New York Times, The Washington Post, Alhayat and many others publications. Her memoir, ‘Daring to Drive: A Saudi Woman’s Awakening,’ is an intimate story of her life growing up in one of the most masculine societies in the world and an Amazon best seller. It was voted by GoodReads as one of the top ten memoirs of 2017 and was listed as #1 book for the summer reading by Oprah Magazine.
